How Timply is used in this industry
Saturday and Sunday premiums worked out as the shift is recorded
The default set follows common Swedish practice with weekday evening from 18:00, Saturday from 14:00 and Sunday from 12:00. If your agreement has other times you change them, and every clocked hour lands in the right category.
The week is published, not posted on a wall
Lay out the shifts, assign the staff and publish. Everyone sees their schedule on their phone the same second, and if you change it on Wednesday the staff see it straight away.
Clocking in and out in the shop
Staff clock in the app or on a shared terminal by the entrance. If closing runs over, the actual time is recorded rather than the planned one.
Extra shifts land on the right code
Timply uses your full-time measure per employee to decide what is additional hours and what is overtime. Part-time staff who pick up an extra shift therefore get the right code without anybody working it out.
The record is finished when the period is
At the end of the period every hour is already on the right PAXml code, with premiums split per category. You download the file and import it into payroll.
Premiums are ordinary life in a shop
A shop open on Saturdays and Sundays carries a premium on almost every shift. Worked out by hand that is an evening a month, and it is an evening a month even when nothing has changed.
Timply works the premium out as the time is recorded. You set which times and weekdays carry one and which code each category is booked to. The default set follows common Swedish practice with weekday evening from 18:00, Saturday from 14:00 and Sunday from 12:00, and you change the times to the ones in your own agreement.
The schedule is where the staff are
A schedule in the staff room is right until somebody changes it. Timply publishes the week to the phone, so a change is visible the second it is made and staff are not reading an out-of-date notice.
Staff also see which colleagues are booked on the same shift, which makes a swap easier to sort out without going through you.
Hourly staff are counted individually
The share of part-time and hourly employment is high in retail. Where the line to overtime falls is decided by the full-time measure, and that measure is set per employee.
Timply calculates per employee. Hours up to the full-time measure are booked as additional hours on MER, hours above it as overtime on ÖT1 or time off in lieu on ÖK1 depending on what the employee chose.
Closing is recorded as it happened
The last customer rarely leaves on the hour. When staff clock out as they actually go, that time is recorded, and the difference against the schedule is calculated as a deviation you can approve.
If the time fell inside a premium window it lands there automatically. Whether it counts as overtime is decided by the full-time measure and by what the employee chose when recording it.

We run the whole chain in Timply: the time clock, the schedule, leave and the payroll record.
Common questions
Are premiums calculated automatically on Saturdays and Sundays?
Yes. You set which times and weekdays carry a premium and which PAXml code each category is booked to. Timply then splits every clocked hour across the right category as it is recorded.
Can staff swap shifts with each other?
In Pro an employee can hand a shift over to a named colleague, and the schedule updates when the handover is approved.
Does it work for hourly staff on different levels of employment?
Yes. The full-time measure is set per employee, so the line between additional hours and overtime is calculated individually rather than against a single figure.
Does every employee need their own phone?
No. The time clock works in the mobile app and in a browser, so a shared terminal in the staff room works as well as a personal phone.
Do staff see which colleagues are on the same shift?
Yes. The schedule shows who else is booked on the same shift, which makes it easier to sort a swap out before it becomes a problem.
More features
OB, split by the hours and weekdays you set
You enter the windows your collective agreement uses. Timply divides every clocked hour between them and books each part to the payroll code it belongs to.
Lay out the week and publish it
Create shifts, staff them and see straight away which ones are unstaffed. Everyone gets their own schedule on their phone the second it is published.
A digital time clock in the phone or on a shared terminal
Staff clock in and out in the app or the browser. The time is recorded against the server as it happens, so it is not written down and typed up later.
Overtime or time off in lieu, chosen when the hours are recorded
The employee picks payment or time off at the moment the overtime is recorded, and the choice carries through to the payroll file as ÖT1 or ÖK1.
Try Timply with your own staff
You can get going on your own, with your real schedule and your real staff. If you would rather be shown around first, book a demo.
